Google Chrome Browser

Initial release of Google’s new browser was only for Windows. Later they introduced Linux and Mac versions. But Linux and Mac versions are yet to come out of development stage.

Recent Linux versions of Google Chrome has the ability to play flash. After installing the development version in Ubuntu, Chrome add its repositories to the source list of Ubuntu so that you can update to future versions through Ubuntu Update manager. You can download latest development version of Google Chrome for Ubuntu from here. Just double click on the downloaded deb file to install on Ubuntu

Requirements: Intel Pentium 4 / Athlon 64 or later CPU; 32- or 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 or later, or 32-bit Debian 5. Support for other Linux distributions is planned; unpacking the .deb files by hand may work. Read the rest of this entry →

Ubuntu still uses Rhythmbox as the default music player though there are other alternatives like banshee. Most of the ordinary computer users like to stick with the default applications that bundled with the OS. And personally I like Rhythmbox.

For a long time, ubuntu user’s complaint was the lack of an graphic equalizer for Rhythmbox. Rhythmbox developers didn’t show any interest in implementing an equalizer for Rhythmbox. HitWicket

HitWicket has launched its first version on February of 2009. From very beginning of its journey, HitWicket hold the position of Cricket related addon which has the highest download rate in Mozilla. Now it is becoming the most downloaded cricket addon in Mozilla.
HitWicket is a small piece of software which enable Firefox users to view live international cricket scores at the bottom of their browser. HitWicket is capable of listing max of 4 live matches.
HitWicket fetch data from CMDN.com which is a new player in cricket websites. And HitWicket is the only addon that uses CMDN.com.
Apart from live scores, HitWicket also provide lose of wicket alerts which is very useful for people engaged in other works. They are alerted when important events happens in their favorite cricket match.
One other unique feature which is not usually shipped with plugins is its theming support. User can select the color scheme of widget window which is best suit to their operating system theme. Buddypress

Many people use Byddypress as a complete social networking platform. They don’t want users to create blogs in it. But ‘My Blogs’ menu item will always appear at the top admin bar. Buddypress give options to turn on or turn off admin bar, but not for editing menu.

But there is way to remove ‘My Blogs ‘ menu item from top admin bar by putting some code in ‘bp-custom.php’ file in your ‘wp-content/plugins’ folder.
