Nexuiz is one of the most popular First Person Shooter game for Ubuntu. Its an open source and freely available for Ubuntu, Windows and Mac OSX.  Nexuiz emerged after the open-sourcing of the Quake 3 engine.  It is developed by Alientrap.

The 2.5 series bring many improvements, featuring new graphics, new maps and an even faster game play. The latest version is 2.5.2, a bug-fix release to the stable 2.5 release.

Ubuntu is a very good operating system in all respects.  But in the case computer games, Ubuntu is not comparable with Windows (Mac OSX have the same problem). The reason is most of the high end Game developers are not ready to port it’s windows version to Ubuntu or Mac OSX.

But Ubuntu still have some good open source games. I am not telling about high end games. Some small interesting games

Google wave, an innovative product from Google,  have started it’s journey a few months back. Google aim to redefine the way people use internet.  So it will definitely take more time to get a wide acceptance. But still many people uses it in their daily life.

Google Wave Notifier is a new desktop widget which alerts when ever you receive a new Wave. Its and open source program currently available for windows alone. You can get the updates from the system tray.

After logging on, the Google Wave Notifier will automatically inform you of new Waves or replies to existing Waves. When a new Wave appears, a popup will be displayed and the system tray icon will get an overlay icon to indicate you have an unread Wave.

Pino-twitter is a simple and fast twitter client for Ubuntu. Moreover, its written in Vala language. Programs written in Vala is compiles to native binary code. Hence you get increases speed and less memory usage.

Jolicloud is a new cloud based operating system developed with growing Netbook popularity in mind.  Unlike Google Chrome OS, its not a fully browser bases OS. It can lots of hardware and desktop applications.

Jolicloud is a Ubuntu based operating system that uses Mozilla Prism technology a lot. So it can deliver cloud based as well as desktop based applications. It can be used as a primary OS or set up a duel boot configuration with Windows.

Jolicloude and Chrome OS are still in development stage. So we cant predict which OS will win the heart of Netbook users. Let’s see.
